  • Once spools and structural members have been double-ticked, the dismantling team removes each item based on its ATN number and marked split location.
  • Hot/cold cuts will be made at the cut/split points depending on the type of material and the location's feasibility.
  • In General :
    • Cold cuts will be made as the first cut of a critical service line after the gas test has been made through the pinhole.
    • All stainless steel and alloy steel materials will be cut using a grinding machine and plasma cutter.
    • Piping joints at the critical, congested connections to critical equipment etc., will be cut using a grinding machine.
    • All C.S. materials will be cut using an oxy-acetylene torch after proper markings have been made for a square cut, and for cases of heavy thickness bevel cutter will be used to ensure an even cut. Cuts made by gas cutting will be ground to a smooth finish before shifting to lay down.
    • All bolted joints will be removed manually or using the hydraulic torquing machine. CS stuck bolts will have their nuts cut off using oxy-acetylene gas cutting.
  • Loose items such as gauges, instruments, valves, and pipe support will have separate ATN numbers, be removed, and handed over to the asset control team.
  • Structures will be dismantled as per the split points indicated. Bolts will be removed using a pneumatic wrench, and those that are stuck will be gas-cut.
  • Equipment will be dismantled according to its weight, and a respective crane will be assigned. Lifting plans will be made for equipment above 25T.
  • Available lifting and tailing hooks on equipment will undergo required NDT procedures to ensure viability. For equipment in which these are not available, lifting and tailing lugs will be designed and tested before use and used for dismantling the equipment.
  • Once the assets are dismantled, they are checked to see if all codes are intact, cut ends are cleaned, pipe/flange ends are covered, and the ATN codes are recorded.
  • All items 2 “and below are considered scrap and will be processed likewise.
